First of all, thanks to everyone who came out and played in Week 4! We smashed our one-week attendance record with 73 people on Sunday! Thanks to everyone for making this league as fun as it is, and we hope you’re all just as excited for Week 5.
We also have three Player Of The Week announcements to make!
Our Player Of The Week for Week 1 is Kat DiFonzo of the Quarter Rollers! Kat went three for four and had a hand in all five points her team scored against Clinton Street Pub FC in their first match as a team. She teamed up with Tis Lais to defeat Paul Schaffer and Zoe Winter on Black Hole, then won her first singles round in the third round against Noah Perkins on Spiderman. Along with Aja Gillingham, she defeated Noah Perkins and Derek Miazga on Cirqus Voltaire in the final round.
The Player Of The Week for Week 2 is Kane Macaniff from Scorboard! Kane went three for three in his team’s 8-8 tiebreaker loss to the Quarter Pounders. Kane defeated Kat DiFonzo, our Player of the Week from Week 1, in the first round of singles on Dirty Harry. He followed that up with another singles victory on Batman (The Dark Knight) against Brandon Guajardo, and then paired up with Geoff Greene to deliver a win on Twilight Zone against Kat DiFonzo and Candace Armagost that helped to sent his team to the tiebreaker round.
And finally, our Player Of The Week for Week 3 is Jeff Hart of CSPFC! Jeff went three for three in his team’s 12-4 victory over Tiger Balls at Clinton Street Pub. The Spring 2016 League MVP started things off on the right foot in the first round with a win on Game of Thrones with Derek Miazga against Mathew Peterson and Seth Beckman, then followed that performance up in the second round with another win on Game of Thrones against Drew Mulkey. Finally, he put the final exclamation point down on the match with Paul Schaffer on Metallica with a win against Jason Burton and Mathew Peterson. This is Jeff’s third Player Of The Week award, which is a league record.
Congrats to Kat, Kane, and Jeff! Also, good luck to all heading into Week 5!
