Congrats to the teams that won in Week 6! Week 7 matches happen tomorrow, so here’s all the updates from the past week:
First, the MVP race: Zoe V.’s (Pinball Outreach Project) continued to make her case this past week for Most Valuable Player. She padded her lead over her competition with two wins in two attempts in last week’s match at home against Tiger Balls, bringing her overall record to 13/17 (.765) and adding to her already perfect record at home (5/5). Daniel R. (The Counts of Belmonte Cristo) also continued to boost his bid for the award with two wins out of three attempts in his team’s loss to GKO at Ground Kontrol. Rob I. (GKO) won one of two, with the win coming against fellow MVP contender Daniel in the first round of doubles. In addition to these three, Paul S. (Clinton Street Pub) is emerging as potential MVP contender – Paul went three for four in last week’s win over Silverball Trial of Death to bring his overall record to 10/16 (.625). Paul has eight wins in his last ten attempts and also ranks third in overall strength of schedule as of Week 6.
The playoff picture will become much more clear after this week, with one team already in and two more that could clinch spots this week. Pinball Outreach Project punched their ticket to the playoffs last week with their win over Tiger Balls at home, and this week Tiger Balls can do the same if they pull out a win over GKO at Ground Kontrol this week. The Counts of Belmonte Cristo can also clinch a playoff spot this week with a win at home against Clinton Street Pub and losses from both GKO and Silverball Trial of Death in their matches. None of the other three teams can claim a playoff spot in any scenario this week, but the good news is that a loss will not eliminate any team from playoff contention this week.
Good luck to everyone!
