We want to take a moment to address the situation around COV-19 and its effect on our community, and the plan that the league has in place for matches in wake of the situation. As most of us know, the disease is here in Portland and will very likely take a significant foothold within the community in the next couple of weeks. There is a strong chance that a good number of us will come in contact with the disease, and we believe that as a community we have a responsibility to each other to keep each other as safe as possible. We owe it to our friends who are immunocompromised and those of us who work in the service industry and other public-facing lines of work that are at higher risk for infection without the luxury of being able to quarantine themselves and still work.
Due to the fact that the disease is now here in Portland and that social distancing measures are proved to work to stop the spread of the virus, we have made the decision to suspend all matches until further notice. We will not cancel the season outright unless the situation does not improve through the Summer. We will consider cancelling Summer League to make up matches if it becomes safe for us to do so.
We do not want to wait until the virus has gained too much traction in the community before taking appropriate measures to keep our players safe. There will come a point where it is too late to prevent players from becoming sick, and we are not interested in pushing our luck on that front.
We will keep all players, teams, and venues up to date as to when we will be able to resume the season. Please note that the remaining schedule may not be played in its current order, as we may have to shift weeks around in order to fit scheduling needs at our venues.
Thank you all for understanding, and we wish you a very safe and healthy weeks and months ahead.
