We are starting a new segment this year to recognize a single player for their performance each week! We are considering the number of wins and losses for each player, as well as using scoresheet from previous weeks to determine the overall value of a player’s performance in a given week. The player that places at the top of our algorithm each week will win the award for that week. Without further ado, here are the winners of our first three Player of the Week awards for this season:
Our Player of the Week Award for Week 1 goes to Holli Winchell (Scoreboard), who went three for three in her debut match against the Tiger Balls of Hungry Tiger at Scoreboard. She notched a win in the first doubles round with John Fujita over Mathew Peterson and Rach’ell Couch on Twilight Zone, another win in the first singles round against Stefan Novak on Batman: The Dark Knight, and another doubles win in the last round with Ben Pownall on Batman against Stefan Novak and Rach’ell Couch.
The Player of the Week Award for Week 2 goes to Kane MacAniff (Scoreboard), who became the sixth person in league history to go four for four in a match. Kane and Lisa Key won in the first doubles around against Beth Poore and Jessica Backstrom on Monster Bash, followed by wins in singles against Zoe Vrabel on Earthshaker and Jessica Reinert on The Addams Family in singles. The final win came against Zoe and Jessica Denardo in doubles on Fireball, along with Ben Pownall.
Finally, the Player of the Week Award for Week 3 goes to Ian Fridge (Belmont Inn), who went three for three in his match at home against Clinton Street Pub FC. Ian won in both singles rounds against Zoe Winter, once on Monster Bash and once on The Avengers. Ian also played a key role in the final doubles round win with Eric Zounese against Derek Miazga and Jeff Hart on The Avengers.
Congratulations to Holli, Kane, and Ian for winning the Player of the Week awards in your respective weeks!
