March 1, 2017
Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed your week off! We’re back at it again this Sunday, but first we are proud to announce our Player Of The Week awards for February!
Our Player Of The Week for Week 1 is Ian Fridge of the Quarter Rollers! Ian went three for three in his team’s opening week match against Slingshot Through The Heart, and had a hand in four of the five points his team scored that week. He opened the season in the second round with a win in singles on Monster Bash against Natalie Jackson, followed by another singles victory in the following round against Melanie Taylor on the same game. Along with Aja Gillingham, he struck again in the final round on Monster Bash again against Colleen Schroht and Sue Brown. This is Ian’s second Player Of The Week award, his first coming in Week 3 of the Spring 2016 season as a member of The Counts of Belmonte Cristo.
Our Player Of The Week for Week 2 is Tom McConathy of the QuarterPounders! Tom went three for three in his team’s Week 2 victory against Clinton Street Pub FC. Tom struck first in the first round on Demolition Man, where he defeated Paul Schaffer and Zoe Winter in doubles with the help of Leslie Martin. Tom notched his sole singles round victory on Black Rose against Spring 2016 League MVP Jeff Hart, and then sealed the deal for his team in the final round of doubles along with Matthew Presnall on Theatre of Magic against Jeff Hart and Andy Cobb. This is Tom’s first Player Of The Week award, and also the first Player Of The Week award for the QuarterPounders.
Our Player Of The Week for Week 3 is Andy Cobb of Clinton Street Pub FC! Andy went three for three in his team’s victory at Hungry Tiger against Tiger Balls. Andy’s first victory came in the first round of doubles, where he and Brenna Bechtold bested Paul Robertson and Jason Burton on Scared Stiff. Andy returned in the third round with a singles victory against Stefan Novak on Spiderman, and then closed the match with a win on The Sopranos in doubles against Paul Robertson and Seth Beckman with the help of Derek Miazga. This is Andy’s first Player Of The Week award.
Congratulations to Ian, Tom, and Andy! Good luck to everyone this week.
